Hymenoplasty
The vaginal opening is partially covered with a thin membrane called the hymen in initial years. The original shape of the hymen differs in a woman but the most common is half-moon shaped present at the bottom of the opening. Hymenoplasty is a medical procedure where the hymen is restored to its original appearance.
The hymen stays intact until it encounters exercise, sexual intercourse, or a tampon. The hymen can be broken during any stage of a women’s life and are usually accompanied by little bleeding, which is completely normal. In a few of the cultures or religions hymen is considered with a woman’s purity (virginity). Many males consider that bleeding on the very first night of intercourse is a sign of virginity. So many females consider this revirgination surgery immediately before marriage.
When a hymen is torn it can be constructed surgically using hymenoplasty or hymenorrhaphy. There can be several scenarios where this surgery plays a crucial role such as in a religious ceremony or a cultural process.
In cases like sexual assault, most women may go through this surgery as a part of their therapy. Sexual assaults can be pretty rough and therefore a surgery like this can impart confidence and help women feel strong again.
Whatever the case may be, hymenoplasty is a small surgical procedure that doesn’t pose any risk. After the procedure is completed the women need not stay back at the hospital and can be back on their toes right from the next day. The clinical procedure is safe and usually carried out by a specialist. The patient is usually educated before the procedure. Also, a restored hymen doesn’t specify as a gained virginity.
It can be done under local anesthesia without the need for admission or anybody knowing about it. in this surgery, the remaining parts of the hymen are sutured back giving the appearance of the hymen.
