Wart Removal
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) can cause genital warts, which is a common sexually transmitted disease. Though there are HPV vaccines available, one the infection has occurred, it's difficult to get rid of.
The genital wart removal on the penis is usually done by excision. It involves cutting off the wart with the help of a scalpel or surgical knife. The incisions are later closed by stitches. Now, these can be removed with laser or radiofrequency cautery also. this is usually a painless procedure without much scarring
Warts can also occur in the vagina or around the anus and therefore the same process is used to remove them i.e. excision or ablation
The surgery is a highly effective method but can be a bit painful when compared to the other treatments. When warts return after other treatments or spread wider than the surgical method is the best. Treating warts may not guarantee the removal of the HPV virus. Once the wart is removed the HPV goes into the inactive stage. Also, the treated person can still risk others and can effectively affect others with HPV.
The recovery after the surgery may depend on the location of the wart and no. of warts removed. The complete healing may take 2-4 weeks but most people return to normal within 2-3 days of the surgery and continue with their routine.
Though it is recommended that after the warts are removed the people should avoid sexual intercourse till their treated areas are healed and all the soreness is completely gone. Usually, 1-3 weeks is the timeframe where people should wait and get healed completely. Wearing a condom may give protection to your partner.
