Breast Reshaping
Breast reshaping is also known as breast lifting. It is a type of cosmetic surgery that can help in providing an aesthetically good shape to a sagging breast. It involves the removal of excess and elongated skin, restructuring the breast tissue, and lifting the areola and nipple to a forward position so that an attractive breast contour can be created. The large, over-stretched areola can also be minimized in size during the reshaping process.
There are many types of incision techniques that can be used for breast reshaping. Based on a woman’s present breast tissue and the excess skin that needs removal any of the following techniques can be adopted for the purpose.
- Crescent lift – it is normally used to correct minimal sagging and is usually done with breast augmentation. It also offers an advantage of minimum scarring during the process.
- Peri-Areolar lift – Befitting its name, it can help in reducing the size of the areola. Often, this technique is used with breast augmentation for patients with mild breast sagging and with a single scar.
- Vertical lift – it can help in addressing moderate breast sagging as excess skin is removed and the breast is reshaped with two incisions and some hidden scars.
- Inverted T lift – If there is extensive sagging of the breast, the sagging tissues and the excess skin is removed by this process to provide the breast lifting.
The complete procedure can be completed within an hour or two and local anesthesia is given for pain relief. Some swelling or soreness can be there for a few days that can be handled by an experienced surgeon.
