This perpetual procedure, also known as medical hairline tattooing or scalp hair tattooing, injects pigment straight into the scalp, giving the aesthetic of thicker hair. Some people prefer Scalp Micropigmentation to surgical hair transplant processes.

This process can also be used to cover up scars caused by FUE or FUT. Based on the scale of the area being infused, it may take several sessions to complete. The ink color is chosen to complement your existing hair color. Keep in mind that while your hair may grey or lighten, the ink will most likely not lighten at the same rate. This procedure may cause some unpleasantness for some time. The goal of SMP is not to create hairlike lines like when microblading brows, but rather to use tiny, patterned dots in distinct shades of black to mimic the appearance of a shadow on their scalp. This technique, known as pointillism, is used to create instinctual depth and description. A skilled professional will work to verify that the dots look like natural hair follicles and blend in with your skin tone.
