Keloid Revision Surgery
Scars are the body's natural technique of mending and replacing skin that has been removed or injured. Fibrous tissue makes up the majority of scars. Scars can form for a variety of reasons, including infections, surgery, traumas, or inflammation of the tissue.
A scar revision is a technique that is performed on a scar to change its appearance. These are thick, spherical, irregular clusters of scar tissue that form on the skin at the location of a wound but beyond the wound's borders. When compared to the surrounding normal skin, they are frequently red or darker in color. Keloids are created when skin cells and connective tissue (fibroblasts) grow in an attempt to repair the injury. Scars can appear on any part of the body, although they're most frequent on the face, neck, ears, chest, and shoulders. They are more common in those with a darker complexion. Keloid scars can appear up to a year after the initial skin damage.
