Total Excision

Total Excision

Surgery to repair or lessen the appearance of scars is known as total excision. It also corrects skin alterations caused by an injury, wound, poor healing, or previous surgery.

After an injury or surgery, scar tissue grows while the skin heals.

The amount of scarring is determined by:

The wound's size, depth, and location

The age factor

Skin Color

Depending on the complexity of the procedure, scar revision can be performed either while you are awake (local anesthesia) or asleep.

It's not always evident whether scar remodeling is necessary. Scars fade over time and become less apparent. It may be possible to postpone surgery until the color of the scar lightens. This could take many months or even a year after the wound has healed. It is advisable to have revision surgery 60 to 90 days after the scar has matured or longer for some scars. Each scar is unique.

There are a few things you can do to make scars look better:

It is possible to completely remove the scar and gently close the new wound.

Silicone strips are used for scar massage and pressure therapy.

Dermabrasion includes using a specific wire brush called a burr or fraise to remove the top layers of the skin. This place regenerates new skin. Dermabrasion can be used to smooth out wrinkles and soften the skin's surface.

Lasers can soften scars' surfaces and promote collagen synthesis in them.

During large traumas, a significant amount of skin can be lost and hypertrophic scars can develop. Muscles, joints, and tendons can all be restricted by these scars.
